Super Grand Esprit, Sagitta XC and Aquilla XC are one of the greats when I was learning to fly, it’s great to be able to build these rare models.

Building the Oldies!

Our local flying field, plenty of room to fly models. It’s owned privately and has a full size aircraft landing strip.

A few mates and myself have decided on a group build. Design by Louis Kulicka

Puy Loup – Group Build

Building and Flying RC Sailplanes

Poy Loup Plans

So we rolled out the newly printed plans at Steph’s place last night at builders night. As you can see they get a little big. First cab off the rank is to find or buy a new building board that is a tad over 2 meters long. Next will see what balsa I have in stock and go from there. Keep you posted on the progress.

Puy Loup Plans

So we have had the plans printed, the printer got the first round wrong and we ended up with it only half the size. I picked up the new ones this morning and we are good to go. Next step is to yack with the boys to see how we are going to do this group build.

Puy Loup

Designed by Louis, a gentleman in europe, it’s an older design, but as soon as I seen it I had to build it. Might take some time to get done, but what a beauty. All info is here http://lesgpr.free.fr/construire/lecteur-construit/puy-loup/puy-loup.htm Screen shot of the plan. Finished model, this is off Louis website. By all means, contact him to get a copy, he has a few others as well. The Gliderman is another that I’ll do as well.

Rudder post to carbon

Mounting the rudder post to the the carbon boom. Just using two blind nuts glued into the post itself, then drilled straight through the carbon. The bottom of the bolts can act like a landing wheel. Sweet! The only small issue i have is as you can see on the video, there is a small gap between the post and the carbon.

TUG Time

After having a discussion with the lads, it’s time to put together a tug that we can all use to launch scale and semi scale gliders. We tossed around the idea of a winch, but we agreed that the tug would be much more fun. So amongst all the other projects we will just have to squeeze this in. Below I picked up the model really cheap, so happy there. To pull it I went for a 30cc donk, now…

Parts

A few small parts, 2 x Corona RX’s. P-51 Almost there

Almost completed the FMS P-51, it’s a big bird with a lot of weight. I’ve installed an ESS Air Sense sound module which on the video is at half volume. Next up is to cycle the retracts 10-15 times to make sure they don’t stuff up. Painted control horns to match the paint Exhaust smoke, so love detailing the planes.
